Trip to Puerto Vallarta - Mexico - December 2021/January 2022

By Olivia | Trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

As someone who hasn't otherwise used a travel agent before, it was nice to have an extra line of communication with all the extra requirements and such regarding travel right now.

The trip was excellent! No complaints - it was great to get some sunshine and all things considered right now the travel was relatively smooth.

Air: Flights were great! The service on WestJet is always nice in my opinion, and the crew was friendly and accommodating to any help I needed as this was my first time travelling internationally by myself. I had some trouble in the Puerto Vallarta airport with my plane gate changing without any notification from the airline, but I ended up just speaking to a WestJet agent at one of the gates and she helped me find my way.

Both my flights were delayed due to a staff shortage - but given the way of the world right now that's to be expected. Flying out of Calgary they gave us frequent updates to have us in the loop on when we'd get off the ground.

The return flight was good! Going through security in Mexico was quick and easy, and when I got off the plane in Vancouver I didn't spend more than maybe fifteen minutes at customs. I did get tested, but it seemed like 90% of people were. I was offered either in-person or take-home testing, but chose in-person as it felt like an easier option in the long run. I got my result back in less than a day.
